Famous Philadelphia competitive eater and 5 time Wing Bowl champion, Bill “El Wingador” Simmons brought us a flavor challenge for his upcoming restaurant. Chicken and waffle dishes have long traditions in the South, and are increasing in popularity all over the Northern U.S. with Nashville hot chicken and waffles, and a variety of other amazing waffle creations. To honor Bill’s Puerto Rican roots, and his love for “sweet heat” Waffatopia created our Mango Habanero Liege waffle.
The first bite greets your sweet taste buds with ripe mango (much like peaches), with a finish a few seconds later of a pure habanero spice that will leave you wanting more. On a spicy scale, we’d compare it to a “hot” buffalo wing. Just enough heat to keep El Wingador coming back for bite after awesome bite.
Sales of this waffle also support Waffatopia and El Wingador’s efforts towards Puerto Rican relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. For every El Wingador Mango Habanero waffle sold, the donations will go to #ChefsForPuertoRico, which is part of World Central Kitchen — a non-profit led by world renowned culinary star Chef José Andrés.
Add it to your “create your own” variety pak too!
